I need someone to help convince me. Of what you might ask? I keep seeing that the right side of the political playing field believes my way of thinking is un-American, un-Christian, and generally un-believable. I’m a flexible person, I change my opinion on things when provided proper evidence (http://sensiblesnowflake.com/2017/08/16/gun/) so let’s give this a try.
Convince me –
that inclusion of the ideas of others is wrong.
that education is a bad thing.
that the most educated and experienced among us, across all knowledge fields, shouldn’t be our leaders.
that we aren’t becoming part of a global community and that it isn’t unstoppable.
that fighting to ensure people don’t go bankrupt because their mom/dad/kid gets sick is a bad thing.
that equal healthcare regardless of income, nationality, citizenship, race, or sex is wrong.
that any adults choosing to love, honor, and care for each other is wrong.
that children are better off in our government system than in loving homes, including same-sex families.
that ensuring all adults can vote and can do so conveniently is wrong.
that there are “good” white supremacists.
that anyone, regardless of criminal or mental history should have access to any weapon they want.
that racism isn’t still a rampant problem in our nation.
that brave men and women of our police forces aren’t being overshadowed by deep problems within those very forces.
that we aren’t fighting unwinnable wars causing unnecessary deaths of our soldiers.
that those very wars are not bankrupting our society.
that the taxes being spent towards those wars wouldn’t be better served backing healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
that other religions are “wrong” and yours is “right”.
that people from foreign countries are a bigger threat that home-grown terror.
that factual accounts of events are fake news.
that protests are not a vital part of our first amendment rights.
I’m a very easy person to have conversation with and will gladly engage most anyone. My rules of engagement are simple, and as a matter of fact I’ve found a link that lists them out nicely: https://www.johntreed.com/blogs/john-t-reed-s-news-blog/60887299-intellectually-honest-and-intellectually-dishonest-debate-tactics. Here’s another good one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies. Let’s sit down and discuss why my views, often labeled “progressive liberal nonsense” are incorrect.
